History/Lore:
It is said the Sorrow of Teash was born in the twilight after the Hour of Devastation. That a lost Isu Artifact was altered by the Emanation in an attempt to fuse their own dark understanding with the Isu's mastery of war. The result was a weapon that would feed on its owner’s aggression—reaching further when angry eyes drew focus, its hunger rising as it tore through bone and flesh. In a sense, this is an Emanation Artifact and a manifestation of the Deep. Any who comes across the weapon must ask some very simple questions with endlessly complicated answers: Is your Light bright enough to stand, even briefly, in full gaze of the Blind Eternities? Can it handle what has died and been reborn in those shadows?
Appearance:
Weapon to the loathsome Agdayne, the Sorrow of Teash is carved of fissilized bone and hell-forged metal, dulled by centuries of slaughter and execution. Despite its mass, it swings easily, as if the sword were aware of its action and eager to tear into the Light. The Sorrow of Teash was believed to be nothing more than a myth. But even the darkest myths are born of some truths, and whispers of the Sorrow of Teash have long filled the Light with dread.
Abilities/Traits:
Cross-Point: The fundamental understanding of this weapon is this; a plasma gun is a powerful weapon, but it kills acyclically. It sends harm and it takes nothing back. The Sorrow of Teash, though, is like a bridge, a crossing-point. The sword binds wielder to victim. It binds life and death. And when the binding is done, the sword remembers. When the plasma gun's fire has burnt away into axion and neutrino scatter, the sword goes on, hungrier and sharper. The weapon cannot be dulled by age, as each death it trades for life hones its edge, as well as weight and gravitas and insistence within the vortex of its own totality. Nextly: the Sorrow of Teash transcends define liminality (process). The Sorrow of Teash demands a subjugation more diffuse than the simple snick and smash of a physical brink. It does not have to touch you in order to wound you. And lastly--and this is the most critical: To be taken into the Sorrow of Teash's grasp is to know true bliss; that is, to be simplified; to be reduced to one's most basic level, shedding all higher-order thoughts of fear or duty or selfishness. The Sorrow of Teash is not the endgame, but a road map. Each evolution, every advance in the delivery of pain and the mastery of destruction feeds the blade's hateful weapons research. It will map every scream, harness every aggression, until it understands every method by which to ravage the hearts, minds, and flesh of man. And in doing so, it will turn its wielder against itself, feeding their lust, their greed, their fear, until they become a threat unto themselves like none they could imagine. So, wield it, angry reaper. Strive to know the darkness in your own heart. Walk in the shadows of fallen heroes. And know that you are an enemy of hope.
